Last spring, Southern Idaho officially became wine country. That's when the federal government approved the Snake River Valley Viticulture Area. Like the Napa or Sonoma valleys, it officially recognizes Southwest Idaho's ability to produce distinctive wines. But the designation does more than give Idaho wines a new cache. In this installment of Edible Idaho, correspondent Guy Hand learns that it could also uncork a wine-fueled kind of real estate development.
